I started drawing at the ripe-ole' age of two! Since then, I have gone on to create hundreds of traditional illustrations using alcohol markers, colored pencils, chalk, and as of 2019, many digital illustrations using Adobe Photoshop.

Like my illustrations, I started creating characters at the age of two (granted, they were some very expressive stick-people, but we all have to start somewhere, right?). Since then, I have created dynamic, engaging characters ranging from mermaids to warrior fairies to talking pumpkins to everyday folks!

I started "creating stories" at the age of two. Since that humble beginning, I have written many articles for my school's newspaper, "The Blue Umbrella", and started dozens of stories for young children, adolescents, and adults alike ranging in genres from fantasy to historical fiction. My most recent work is my young children's book, "Patch the Little Pumpkin", which I am currently in the process of illustrating for publication.
I work in Photoshop to create my digital illustrations. I use alcohol markers, ink pens, chalk, and colored pencils to create my traditionally-based illustrations.
Yes, I am currently available for illustration and character design commissions! If you're in need of an illustrator and/or character designer, please contact me at kplank@kplankcreations.com.
During my high school years, I illustrated front/back covers and inside pages for my school's newspaper, "The Blue Umbrella". I also illustrated the art for the online blog, "Quill's Bible Blog". Presently, I am working on the illustrations for my first author/illustrator children's book, "Patch the Little Pumpkin".
In 2023, I graduated from Ignite Christian Academy, an online private school. During my time there, I chose to enroll in many challenging classes such as AP U.S. History and college-level English and consistently earned Honor Roll status.
Yes, I do! The artistic style I use really depends on the project, subject, and targeted audience. For illustrations targeted towards a younger audience, my style consists of chunky shapes, dramatic lines, dynamic movements/compositions, and vibrant, bright color palettes. For illustrations targeted towards an older audience and more "serious" subjects, my style consists of a more painterly coloring technique, sharp lines, more life-like character physiques, and vivid, striking color palettes.
My favorite part about being an illustrator/character designer/writer is that I get to create new and exciting worlds and have the ability to share those worlds with others. There is nothing more gratifying than sharing wonders of the imagination with others!
